  • What is the IWCA Graduate Organization?

    • IWCA-GO works with the International Writing Center Association (IWCA) to support graduate students who are current or aspiring writing center administrators and scholars. IWCA-GO also seeks to create stronger connections between graduate students and professional writing center administrators. Thus, IWCA-GO provides for its members the following:

      • 1. Mentoring with scholar-professionals across various institutions;

      • 2. Networking with other graduate students across various institutions and organizations;

      • 3. Professional development experience in organizational administration and service at the national level (i.e., workshops, webinars, presentations, etc.);

  • Who can join? 

    • Any person who wishes to join IWCA-GO may do so; however, IWCA-GO encourages soliciting membership particularly from persons who have a stake in writing center administration and scholarship. All graduate and post-doc members of IWCA are encouraged to join and participate in IWCA-GO.

  • What are the membership requirements? 

    • To remain in good standing, all IWCA GO members should strive to attend scheduled meetings and events. Members are also encouraged to submit topics and presentations for professional development and workshop topics.

  • Does it cost anything to be a member?

    • There are no membership dues for IWCA-GO; however, members are highly encouraged to pay membership dues to IWCA in order to be eligible for the full range of benefits offered by IWCA-GO (e.g., travel grants). Please see the IWCA website for current graduate student membership dues.
       

  • How do I join?

    • There are multiple ways to officially join IWCA-GO and receive IWCA-GO updates:

      • 1. Complete an online membership form (link provided on IWCA-GO webpage).

      • 2. Join the GIWCA-L listserv by sending an email with “Join” in the subject line to GO.IWCA@gmail.com 

      • 3. Follow IWCA-GO social media platforms
